Steve Emtman played for the University of Washington when the team went 10-2 and won the Rose Bowl for the first time in 9 seasons and was considered the best overall player on the 1991 Husky’s undefeated National Championship team. A consensus All-American, Emtman won the Outland Trophy, Lombardi Award, was the Bill Willis Award winner, Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year, the UPU Lineman of the Year. Emtman was also a Heisman Trophy nominee and in 2006 was voted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
Emtman was selected as the number one draft pick in the first round of the 1992 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. His most memorable play was the game-sealing 90-yard interception return for a touchdown as time expired in a 31-20 upset win at the Miami Dolphins in his rookie year, which earned him honors as AFC defensive player of the week. Emtman was also named to the 1992 NFL Rookie Team. Emtman played in the NFL for 5 seasons for the Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins and the Washington Redskins.
